Forbidden Planet is pleased to announce signing by bestselling comedy author Robert Rankin. He will be signing Retromancer at the Forbidden Planet London Megastore on Saturday 12th December 1:00pm – 2:00pm.

The Write Fantastic is an authors’ initiative to introduce fantasy to readers who unfamiliar with the genre, and to entice back those who have drifted away. Their combined work covers fantasy writing from orcs and dragons, swords and sorcery, right through to the to re-imagining of myth and history, and the magics of matter, mind and spirit. Contemporary fantasy is about far more than escape. Freed of the constraints and preconceptions of other fiction, it holds up a mirror to this world and time and engages the imagination like no other genre.

Meet the stars of the smash hit BBC series 'Merlin' at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR, on Saturday 31st October 3 – 4pm.

Bradley James (Arthur) and Angel Coulby (Guinevere) will be signing The Adventures of Merlin: The Official Annual and The Adventures of Merlin: Complete Guide plus a full range of other Merlin titles.

Bradley James is a relative newcomer to television but has managed to make his mark in each role he has taken on. He made his television debut in the ITV series Lewis in 2008, in a recurring role opposite Kevin Whately and Laurence Fox, before moving onto Shine’s teen drama Dis/Connected on BBC Three. Bradley’s passion for sports, including football, athletics and cricket, has helped him in his physically demanding role as a young Arthur in Merlin.

Angel's impressive credits include Doctor Who, Life is Wild, Hustle, Tripping Over, Making Waves, International Emmy nominated crime drama Vincent, and BBC medical dramas Holby City and Casualty. Angel also featured in the BBC Three sitcom The Visit. She has worked with Shine before, on teen drama As If. Angel was a member of the National Theatre, and performed in productions including The Statement of Regret and The Importance of Being Ernest.

Girl Number 9, starring Gareth David-Lloyd (Torchwood), Joe Absolom (Personal Affairs, Eastenders) and Tracy-Ann Oberman (Doctor Who, Eastenders).

Torchwood/Doctor Who writer James Moran has created a 6 x 5 minute web thriller, with feature director Dan Turner.

Vincent Boylan (Joe Absolom) has just been arrested, suspected of being behind the brutal murder of seven girls, but the team only have a limited time to get a confession out of him. If they cant make him talk, he could slip through their fingers. Detective Matheson (Gareth David-Lloyd), who led the investigation, is sent in to try and get some answers. But things soon take a horrifying turn for the worse, as Matheson and his boss Lyndon (Tracy-Ann Oberman) are about to find out all is not what it seems.

Among many TV, stage and film appearances, Gareth David-Lloyd is best known for playing Ianto Jones in the hugely successful 'Torchwood' series on the BBC. He also fronts his own blues band, Blue Gillespie.

In Grandville, Talbot brings us a glorious steampunk masterpiece. Inspired by the work of the nineteenth-century French illustrator Gerard, it tells the story of detective Inspector LeBrock of Scotland Yard as he stalks a gang of murderers through the heart of Belle Epoque Paris. In this alternative reality, France is the major world power and its capital is thronged with steam-driven hansom cabs, automatons and flying machines. The characters are mostly animals, though there is an underclass of humans who resemble the 'clear-line' characters of Herge's Tintin books. Grandville is an audacious rollercoaster ride that will add to Talbot's reputation as one of the best graphic novelists in the world.

Listing the accomplishments of Bryan Talbot is a daunting task – arguably the creator of the first British graphic novel, ‘The Adventures of Luther Arkwright’, the credits to his name are too numerous to mention. He started in the underground comics scene of the late 1960s and his work has spanned the flagship series of 2000AD as well as Batman, Sandman, Hellblazer amd Fables. The Observer described his last graphic novel, Alice in Sunderland, as ‘…one of the most exhilarating books in years’.

Clive Barker Signing 'Midnight Meat Train'

Featuring Vinnie Jones and based on the short story by Clive Barker, Midnight Meat Train is the horrific tale of Leon, a New York photographer who saves a woman from being attacked. The woman then disappears and the police show no interest in Leon's story, forcing him to track down the killer on the subway system himself.

Eoin Colfer signing And Another Thing

In a record-breaking event in 1980, the late, great Douglas Adams did a legendary signing at Forbidden Planet on Denmark Street, London – a signing that took up half-a-dozen pages in his biography.

It’s a very special moment for us to be welcoming Eoin Colfer, signing the sixth book in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy trilogy And Another Thing at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR, on Wednesday 14th October 6 – 7pm.

Adams himself said that the Hitchhiker’s series deserved a sixth book to end the story on an upbeat note; Eoin Colfer, best known for his wonderful Artemis Fowl series, is true follower of Adams’ legacy with his views of the absurdities of life, the universe and everything.
